I did not take till now. I thought of waiting for at least a week more as the content in the notice I received says that ' If I don't receive any other notice regarding Biometrics or Card within 90 days I need to call them'.

This is true. A majority of the Dems are sensible people. BTW, although they are against outsourcing, they are not against immigration. The two issues are quite different.

Just got email. No card yet.
Current Status: Card production ordered.
On July 26, 2008, we ordered production of your new card

Another thing I just noticed is a LUD on my I-140 which was approved a year ago ( july5th 2007)
The lud happened on 7/27/2008.
I got my card today.
It starts on the next day of my old cards expiry date.
Validity is for one year only though.
Current Status: Card production ordered.

Too bad you did not bother reading up on the net before you took your job. I researched what is involved prior to leaving grad school and I knew it was a long wait. Like I said quota is there because of numbers / diversity. US needs programmers from more than just one country.
And its not really a quota since numbers are rolled at the end of the year to oversubscribed countries. Your notion of separate queues derives from your ignorance of how immigration works. Why hasn't anyone challenged the quota in the Supreme Court ?

There is a saying in India that a wise man should never climb the steps of the court, however; after repeated insults and discriminations he becomes unwise. At that time, I was too young and naive to see the sandtraps. You cant blame for someone falling in a well disguised hole.

Ditto - been here since 1998... Finally when one does get a GC, it's not really a high point of life - just another pending task accomplished so one can move on.
One of those things - having it will not make a HUGE difference to life, but not having it does have its consequences. Funny how this works... :)

I have been in US since 1998 as well and I have a EB2 PD of Nov 2006. I keep myself healthy and happy. To me if there is no work here there will be work somewhere else and if there is no growth this country there will be growth somewhere else. Cheer up buddy :-)

On July 25th lawyer sent my documents 140 & 485 concurrent, PD port from previous I-140 approval (approved at Nebraska).
Reached Nebraska Service Centre on July 26th.
Will it be processed at Nebraska Service centre or Texas Service centre? According to new direct filing instructions my employer and my residence comes under Texas Service centre.

Discussions, debates, political bickering and fingerpointing can drag on for months and even years because no one is officially willing to kill it for obvious political reasons. CIR will likely not be VOTED dead. There just will not be anything done about naming a Conference committee. If a committee is indeed named, but they don't produce a report in 2-3 weeks, then CIR would be deemed dead.
The bottom line is, if nothing happens by the end of July, CIR will likely be dead.
We will be looking at other options much before the end of July. The problem for us is that no other legislation will be considered before the end of July.

Just want to highlight a positive point. June visa bulletin shows that NONE of the visas (or very negligible) are going to be wasted this fiscal year for India. Shows increased USCIS efficiency. Hopefully it will be true for World and China as well.

Great job Mirage, if they can lift country cap for 2 years and work per law, it should resolve all the issues. Per their stats they published to DHS, they have 250K EB applications pending, even if you add 100K applications for the remaining, it should clear all the backlog.
Ofcourse CIS can kill it by saying FBI name check etc. But they can't do it for 250K applications pending. Even though I haven't filed my 485 yet, I support this.

I and my wife have been SCREAMING, FIGHTING for over four years now. We are now so frustrated that we have EVEN DISCUSSED THINGS LIKE TAKING UP OUR LIVES !!! I really mean it. For both of us, our career is the single most important thing.
We had decided to wait for our next step in life like having a kid or putting in a big investment till we both at least have a job. Inspite of both of us having Masters degress from US universities, we are both suffering - me languishing in a filthy job and my wife on H4 - for the past 5 years !!! She is now more than 35 making it difficult to have kids etc...
I don't have the choice of going back to my home country due to many other personal reasons. I just don't know what to do... I am losing my sanity.
We had decided to wait for our next step in life like having a kid or putting in a big investment till we both at least have a job. None of this damn crap is fair. There are 3 lines in the green card queue. 1) Labor/PERM line, further subdivided on the basis of BEC, PERM, Employer willingness, exempt(NIW) etc. 2) the I-140 Line and 3) the I-485 line. These lines each have inconsistent patterns depending upon the winds of the day, a few years ago, LC/BEC lines were long, employers were less willing to sponsor green cards, and there was no I-140 PP processing, now all of a sudden PERM is there, PP of 140 came into being, and 485 became an eternal wait and country quotas came into being. For those that got screwed with BECs then PP 140 got removed when they were ready to file and now PD retrogressed into the stone age, it sure would seem like non sense for the guy who got PERM in 2 weeks, then PP 140 in 10 days and filed 485 in he July fiasco. Nevertheless you are only speaking in terms of degrees of getting screwed, since all are being done so by an unpredictable and unreliable system.

A wait of 2yrs, 5yrs or 10 yrs is immaterial, all of the above are ridiculous in EB immigration, degrees of unfairness is splitting hairs if you ask me. If we can all agree on that then, we have a platform to move forward with, otherwise we will get nowhere. Is suing the only option? USCIS could be making unintended mistake. We want to get clarification in a smoother and faster process before the flood gates open in October.
There should be some other legal-process to get written clarifications/interpretation etc on the law (like some kind of AILA discussion with CIS).

My lawyer is taking his own sweet time to apply. It is frustrating. Do you guys think that there is any chance that they will stop taking 485 applications at some point before 30 june? Please reply...we are worried.
